Different Types of Concrete Mixer Machines

Concrete is one of the most critical elements used in the construction industry. It’s used in the construction of roads, buildings, and homes. Concrete contains different ingredients such as cement, gravel, rocks, sand, water, and other chemicals. To obtain the best concrete quality, you need to mix all these elements with a concrete mixer properly.

A concrete mixer mixes cement and all the other elements to form concrete. The main objective of the mixer is to achieve the perfect concrete mix. Two types of mixers could get the job done – the continuous concrete mixer and the batch concrete mixer.

Continuous Concrete Mixer

You use this type of mixer(tipo de mezcladora) for construction that involves large masses of concrete. Examples of construction projects involving this mixer are building dams, bridges, railways, and tunnels. The process involves the continuous mixture of concrete ingredients and the constant discharge of the completed concrete solution.

These mixers use on-tilting drums with screw-type blades constantly spinning inside the drum. You tilt the drum 15 degrees downward to the opening, and the mixing time depends on the amount of concrete you have to produce. Usually, the mixing time takes a short time to complete before it discharges the finished concrete mixture.

Batch Concrete Mixer

If you enter a small construction site, you would typically see this type of mixer. Batch concrete mixers are the most common type of mixers used to mix concrete. It looks like a big drum attached with wheels so that you can move it around where you need it. This big drum rotates so that the concrete mixture insider would combine, and because of its blades inside, the concrete mixture would form correctly.

There are many types of batch concrete mixers around. These are the following:

• Tilting Drum Mixers
◦ You can tilt this mixer into certain angles so that the concrete mixes(mezclas de hormigón) well. It also increases the efficiency as you can tilt the mixer to a 15-degree angle that the concrete mixes well in this setup.

• Non-Tilting Drum Mixers
◦ You cannot tilt this mixer, and it will always remain at a 0-degree angle. For you to discharge the concrete, insert an inclined tube inside the drum.
◦ One takeaway from this is the orientation of the drum mixer. Because of its horizontal direction, rapid concrete discharge is not attainable.

• Reverse Drum Mixers
◦ This type of mixer functions similarly to the non-tilting drum mixer with slight differences. With Non-tilting drums, both sides of the drum open simultaneously to put in the concrete mixture. The reverse drum mixer only opens on one side, and this opening discharges the concrete.
◦ A good thing about this mixer shows on the economic perspective. It operates at a low cost and does not require much maintenance as the other types of mixers.

There are many concrete mixer machines in the construction industry. You must know which type of concrete mixer to use for your project, and hopefully, this article helps you learn about the different types of mixers.
